About Chris Pettitt
I’ve been programming for the majority of my life, starting with gw-basic on an IBM XT. I taught myself Turbo Pascal and learned C++ (and C in the process) in a college course while I was a freshman in high school. Since then I have had the opportunity to work with a number of great developers and to work on several exciting projects. At VERITAS and Symantec, I worked on VERITAS Cluster Server. At Laszlo I led server development for Laszlo Webtop. Most recently I’ve been working in the Kernel team at LinkedIn.
In my spare time I enjoy working with open source projects and trying new technologies. I’ve contributed to git (git-p4, specifically), Rubinius, and MacPorts. I’ve also written Samsarin PHP Widget, a plugin that allows PHP code in the Wordpress sidebar. I’ve enjoyed working with Ruby for years and more recently I’ve been looking at Lua.
Outside of programming, I have a number of other interests:
- Photography
- Videos
- Go, the board game
- Playing guitar
- Learning Spanish
- Reading
